The place not to be missed is the Tiagarra Tasmanian Aboriginal Culture and Art Centre located at the dramatic Mersey Bluff. The center has preserved around 270 aboriginal rock engravings, of which a small collection of concentric circles, motifs or snakes, abalone shells, emus, crayfish and other creatures are on display. Taped background information provides insight into the life of the Tasmanian aborigines. The Maritime and Folk Museum is an additional attraction as are a variety of souvenir shops, art galleries and the Wilderness Society Shop, which make for interesting diversions while visiting Devonport.
As a busy ferry terminus, Devonport features a good number of souvenir shops, particularly along Stewart Street. The Devonport Art Gallery, occupying a converted church, features changing exhibitions and a small collection of Tasmanian ceramics. The Wilderness Society Shop is a good source for guide books, posters, postcards and T-shirts. Shopping may be limited on Sundays.
The local currency used in Adelaide is the Australian Dollar (AUD).
